ABOUT

Hello and welcome! I’m Lucy Wise (she/her), a proudly neurodivergent Registered Psychologist, and the founder of Ritual Psychology. I’m passionate about supporting individuals to better understand themselves and develop greater self-compassion.

I have a special interest in supporting individuals with experiences including:

  • Autistic burnout

  • Obsessions and compulsions (OCD)

  • Trauma, PTSD, & Complex PTSD

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Emotional neglect & misattunement

  • Marginalisation & minority stress

  • Insomnia and sleep challenges

  • Chronic illness and disability (including ME/CFS, POTS, EDS, MCAS)

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and relational. My practice is centred in neuroaffirming principles and I draw from a number of evidence-based therapies and support strategies, that I adapt, depending on your individual goals and neurotype. These include:

  • Compassion Focused Therapy

  • Schema Therapy

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Inference-Based Cognitive Therapy for OCD

  • Autistic-affirming Exposure & Response Prevention for OCD

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Insomnia

  • Psycho-education & capacity building support

When I’m not in the office, I like to spend time in my ever-expanding veggie and flower garden. I’m also an aspiring oil painter and I love to create beautiful spaces full of sensory joy.

  • Neurodiversity Affirming

I am committed to the principles of neurodiversity affirming practice. I don’t pathologise neurodivergence, trauma, disability, or mental health challenges.

I view all forms of neurodivergence as natural variations in human development that are worthy of accommodations and support, not something to be ‘fixed’ or ‘cured’.

I am also a multiply neurodivergent person with lived experience of chronic illness. My experience has shaped my commitment to neuroaffirming practice, respectful collaboration, and an understanding that there is no single “right” way to think, feel, or function.

  • Authentic

I aim to foster a space where individuals can feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions without judgement.

I also make active adjustments to make therapy as accessible as possible and encourage stimming, comfort items, fidgets and alternative forms of communication when helpful to you.

I model sensory self-care in sessions by attending to my sensory needs. You might notice me looking away from the camera or playing with a fidget on occasion. These accommodations help me to stay present and connected with you.

  • Holistic

I take a systemic and anti-oppressive approach to therapy, recognising how stigma, ableism, and other societal barriers contribute to minority stress and restrict access to mental health support, employment, disability support, and medical treatment for neurodivergent people.

I actively encourage my clients to seek out affirming and supportive health care services where possible and I can provide you with resources and information to support you to develop confidence in advocating for your needs.
